At HVET safety comes first
- Attendance: Students must be on location 15-20 min. before shift starts. Students must complete 85% (min) of their course before they will receive a certificate.
- Arriving late may result in disruption of scheduled equipment training plan.
- HVET has a zero tolerance for Drugs and Alcohol in the work place.
- Inform your instructor if you have any limitations (physical, learning etc.)
- No radios of any kind allowed in equipment (equipment radios, Ipods etc.).
- No phones allowed in equipment, if it is imperative you need to phone let instructors know.
- Heavy Equipment has the right of way.
- 3 pt contact when mounting and dismounting equipment.
- When approaching equipment make eye contact with operator and get acknowledgement.
- When operator is out of the seat (or being approached by a person) all implements must be lowered to the ground, brakes are set and safety levers must be disengaged.
- Smoking in a designated area only and must be extinguished properly.
- Violence, horse play, racial remarks or harassment will not be tolerated.
- Always stay out of swing area and approach from cab side.
- Equipment must be operated in first gear and/or turtle mode.
- Hearing protection is mandatory.
- No pets allowed on location (job site or accommodations).
- Morning and Afternoon training groups; HVET operates 7 days per week.
- Schedules are subject to change; it is the students responsibility to stay informed.
- A NO-SHOW with no communication provided to your instructor can result in losing your shift and/or safety courses.
- An excusable absence requires 24-hour notice or a Doctor’s note.
- Non-compliance of rules or instructor directions will not be tolerated.
